The exhibition titled “A deep grey sea” refers to various issues and concepts, and at the same time, each artist reflects their own situations in their works based on the issues and concepts.”

“Although the path we walk is similar, we will trace the differences that movement, perspective and experience will bring together and make them a part of our own walk. We welcome everyone to the exhibition where we will see the traces of each photographer’s own walking speed, swings, ways of seeing and thinking.”

Between September 16 and October 4, 2024, the films produced by 20 participants during the “Labour in a Single Shot” workshop led by Antje Ehmann and Hazel Kılınç at Yermekân will be presented in a pop-up exhibition. These short videos, which deal with labor as a single shot, will be accompanied by Harun Farocki's films “Workers Leaving the Factory” (1995) and “Comparison” (2009).

Harun Farocki is recognized as one of the most important representatives of German experimental and documentary cinema. He produced over 90 films in his lifetime, spanning the genres of essay, short, documentary and fiction. Harun Farocki will not only turn 80 this year, but July 30, 2024 will also be the tenth anniversary of his death. For this reason, Goethe-Institut Ankara, in collaboration with Yermekân, presents a program of events that will shed light on the director's work and examine his influence on today's artistic production.
